Strikingly constant use of free newspapers

STUDY These are the latest figures from the Y&R Group's Media User Index.Y&R Group Switzerland has been publishing the Media User Index for six years. It records the information behavior of the Swiss population on an annual basis; a total of around 2,000 people in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland are surveyed. Internet usage, particularly via smartphone, continues to rise significantly. The current chart on media usage also shows the constant use of free newspapers, which has always been well above 60% since the surveys began five years ago, while daily newspapers are constantly losing usage. They are now below 50%. By free newspapers, the MUI managers mean all free newspapers that are read by a (surveyed) person. An important group of these are the weekly free newspapers that are distributed to all households in a certain area. Most of these are organized in the Association of Swiss Free Newspapers, reaching around 1.6 million and thus around half of the households in German- and French-speaking Switzerland.
