Brussels gives Google more time
Google has been granted more time by the EU in the antitrust proceedings regarding online advertising.

The Internet company now has until October 26 to respond to the allegations, the EU Commission announced on Tuesday. Google had asked for the deadline to be extended. The company should actually have responded by Tuesday. The proceedings concern the "AdSense for Search" sub-service, which allows other websites to integrate Google search masks. Among other things, the Commission suspects that the company restricts the ability of these providers to also display search engine advertising from Google's rivals. Google advertising is given preferential treatment. Google rejects the accusations. The EU Commission also sees competition problems with Google's shopping offers and its business policy for the Android smartphone operating system. (SDA)
