Independent financial knowledge for everyone: Smartpurse becomes free of charge

Edufintech "SmartPurse" is permanently abolishing the annual fee for its app. This action, led by founder Olga Miler, aims to close the "alarming gaps in financial literacy recently revealed in Swiss studies".

Current studies point to clear deficiencies and inequalities in financial education in Switzerland: Young people, women and low-income groups lag behind in financial knowledge. With an average score of just 5.17/10, only 52% of respondents were able to answer three knowledge questions correctly.

Enabling financial freedom for all

In response to these findings, SmartPurse removes the paywall and provides over 80 compact, practical lessons on topics such as salary negotiations, investments, debt reduction and retirement planning - regardless of previous knowledge, income or education - free of charge in the app. Previously, an annual subscription cost around 95 francs.

The now free SmartPurse resources are designed to help women, young people and those on low incomes or with low levels of education in particular to achieve financial freedom. "With SmartPurse Free, we are breaking down the barriers to accessing financial knowledge. We give people the opportunity to take their finances into their own hands. Financial independence is a fundamental right, and women and young people in particular are now benefiting from the tools they need for a secure future," says Olga Miler, founder of SmartPurse.

The free app is available in the App Store and on Google Play. Among other things, it includes short, video-based lessons that explain topics such as salary negotiations, investing and pensions in simple terms for anyone who has little time - they only take 3 to 5 minutes a day. In addition, over 20 checklists and tools help with budgeting, investing and debt reduction, and if professional support is needed, the app also offers direct contact with certified financial experts.
