To the point: got away again

If you’re reading this editorial, the predicted end of the world hasn’t happened, and the Earth continues to spin until the next predicted end of the world—which is as certain to come as the two long-standing *Werbewoche* classics you’ll find in this year-end issue.

The first is the creative ranking, which is eagerly awaited by the industry, and the second is the presentation of the candidates for the 2013 Advertiser of the Year award. Werbewoche's creative ranking focuses on the creative achievements of agencies that have won awards in national and international competitions. The competitions and their corresponding weighting were selected in collaboration with a delegation from the Art Directors Club of Switzerland. The ranking is based on the self-declarations of the participating agencies, which were checked by the editorial team on the basis of the official ranking lists of the creative competitions. My warmest congratulations to those who made it into the top ten.

Six personalities from the Swiss advertising scene have once again been nominated for the Advertiser of the Year award by the election committee, consisting of former Advertisers of the Year and the respective finalists. I would also like to congratulate them. They have already taken the first step towards becoming Advertiser of the Year.

Advertising Week subscribers can now choose their favorite from the nominees. They will receive a corresponding voting card at the end of December. On January 31, one of the candidates will then receive the coveted Advertising Week Egon and be able to celebrate the evening as the newly crowned Advertiser of the Year 2013. We are not yet revealing where the event will take place and who will be hosting it. Let us surprise you and reserve the date in advance. Admission will be free, but the number of participants will be limited; details will be available at Werbewoche.ch at the beginning of the year.

But first we are taking a short Christmas break. The next printed edition of Werbewoche will be published on January 18, 2013. Until December 21 and from January 3, you will find regular news from the communications and media industry on Werbewoche.ch. We would like to thank you, dear reader, for your loyalty. We wish you a wonderful and peaceful time over the Christmas period and hope that 2013 will be a successful and exciting year together with you.
