To the point: Congratulations
The crowning of the Advertiser of the Year is one of the social highlights on the agenda of the Swiss agency scene. Back in 1977, the creative community crowned its "king" for the first time. This year, the title will be awarded for the 36th time.
The industry leader of the year is chosen by Werbewoche subscribers. A final round of nominees is put forward by a kind of "academy" of all previous advertisers of the year. The list of "established" candidates is supplemented by the editorial team with new faces that have particularly caught their eye during the course of the year. This year, two Internet specialists, a managing director of an agency and a representative of an even younger agency also made it to the final round as part of the joint selection process.
I am particularly pleased that the Advertiser of the Year is also perceived by the public and the media as an "ambassador for the industry. The media acceptance of our choice, as well as the numerous requests for a specialist commentary on daily advertising topics, show that the Advertiser of the Year we present is perceived as an opinion leader for Swiss advertising.
Peter Brönnimann, Executive Creative Director and co-founder of Spillmann Felser Leo Burnett, Zurich, was able to accept the trophy named Egon at the ABC cinema. The little man with an oversized mouth as a megaphone was designed by Swiss artist Max Grüter. Peter Brönnimann received 41 percent of the votes. Geri Aebi came in second with 24 percent of all votes. Peter A. van der Touw, CEO of Notch Interactive, and Gabriel Peisker, founder and CD of Erdmannpeisker, came in third with 11 percent of the votes each. On the same evening, which was incidentally hosted by Christa Rigozzi, the creators of the "TV Spot of the Year" also received an award.
20 films were put forward for voting by Werbewoche via Facebook. Like last year, a film from the campaign for upc cablecom was chosen as the winner. It was created by the Zurich agency Vizner Borel. Director Reto Salimbeni and his Zurich-based Manifesto Films were responsible for the spots featuring Hollywood Swiss Carlos Leal. In second place was a spot for Charles Vögele from the creation of the new Publicis subsidiary Red Lion. Third place went to Lidl Switzerland with a campaign by Unikat. Like the winner, these two films were also realized by Manifesto Films.
