With the launch of the online platform Studium-und-karriere.ch, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung NZZ is strengthening its commitment to students. In the future, all activities that affect the student target group will be bundled under the "Studium und Karriere" brand. At the moment, it is the NZZ university bloggers who make up the actual hook of the Studium und Karriere website. "150 students applied to the NZZ. Among the applicants were many women and few ETH students," explains the responsible NZZ editor Jan Mühlethaler to Werbewoche. Ten students representing the Swiss university landscape were selected. They are to report exclusively on life at the various universities and universities of applied sciences. In addition, a headhunter writes about his practical experience in his NZZ weblog.
"The website Studium-und-karriere.ch, which has been online since Wednesday, is intended to become an important platform for students," emphasizes Mühlethaler. "Education has always been a core topic of the NZZ. With the launch of the new product, the NZZ is specifically addressing the group of students. The editorial offering includes topics that interest both freshmen and graduates," says Mühlethaler.
The website is to be continuously expanded. In addition, cooperations with other partners, such as student websites or companies that offer services for students, are also being considered and have already been partially implemented. Furthermore, those responsible for the project are planning to push ahead with the cross-media linking of print and online. For example, the ten bloggers will also be used for the two already established special supplements of the NZZ for students, which will be published at the beginning of the semester.
The Studium und Karriere brand encompasses various journalistic and publishing activities. The two print supplements published in the fall (Studium und Beruf) and spring (Weiterbildung und Karriere) are now also published under the name Studium und Karriere. However, the two supplements continue to focus on topics for first-year students in the fall and on continuing education and the job market in the spring. Journalistic content from the NZZ and the NZZ am Sonntag that might be of special interest to students is available on the website.
With the expanded offer for students, the NZZ wants to find new readers among students and at the same time offer advertising companies new target-group-specific opportunities. The project emerged from a working group of NZZ editors and publishers that created the new product. This was launched in mid-2004.
