The number of people who potentially pick up a Sunday newspaper on Sunday is not increasing. If you still want to grow, you have to fish in the pond of the competition. The recently refreshed NZZ on Sunday the SonntagsBlickreadership and asks them in a full-page advertisement: "Is your intellect up to something this weekend?"

Perhaps one or the other tabloid reader suffers from a subliminal intellectual deficit when reading on Sundays? The trial subscription to the NZZ on Sunday could provide a remedy.

Whether the advertisement was placed opposite the column by Frank A. Meyer, Ringier's intellectual mastermind, is pure speculation. It is obvious that one would rather have advertisements from advertisers outside the industry in one's own publication. In this day and age, however, people have long since stopped looking a normally paid, full-page advertisement in the mouth. They have simply become too rare for that - and can currently also be found in the SonntagsBlick easily count on one hand (advertisements for festivals where View as media partner and the Ringier portal Ticketcorner as ticket seller).

In the current SonntagsZeitung For example, in addition to numerous half-page advertisements, there is just one full-page advertisement from outside the Group. So there would undoubtedly have been room for the NZZaS ad. But it was not placed. Perhaps people at Falkenstrasse trust the SonntagsZeitung-readership to a higher intellectual workload. Especially since with today's advertising budgets, you usually have to limit yourself to the bare essentials anyway. (hae)
