The Tamedia media group has decided to centralize its internal print service at one location and move the jobs in Lausanne to the main site in Zurich. The internal print service has a kind of hub function between sales, production and editorial. Its tasks include entering print advertisements, coordinating print material, page planning and invoicing.

From June 2018, all media titles from German-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Switzerland will be managed in Zurich, where the majority of the approximately 70 print office staff and the entire digital office staff are already based. The aim of the reorganization is to create uniform work processes and shorten paths in order to increase efficiency and improve quality.

The 15 employees of the print office staff, who have been working at the Lausanne site up to now, will be offered a position at the Zurich site. Marcel Kohler, Head of Advertising & Commuter Media and member of the Management Board of Tamedia, said in a press release: "We are aware that this is a difficult decision for our office staff in Lausanne and we will support them as best we can in the coming months. However, in the current difficult market environment, we must look for ways to improve our position and optimize our processes across all areas."

Customer counters are excluded from the centralization. These will remain at the existing regional locations in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland - including Geneva, Lausanne and Sion. (hae/pd)
