Not so lovely

Would you try dog milk? And if not, why not?

There are animal welfare issues that are more for the advanced. Because large sections of society are not even aware that we could be concerned about them. The supposed by-product leather is one of them, but increasingly so is the consumption of milk. This is anything but harmless from an ethical point of view. Dairy cows don't just give milk. They only do so because their calves are taken away from them shortly after birth. If the milk yield decreases, the next calf and the next mother-child trauma follow. And if the milk decreases after a few years for natural reasons, they go to the slaughterhouse. Not particularly lovely.

It is therefore reasonable to think about this "livestock" relationship. But very few people do, because after all, it has always been like this. And will therefore be right.

If humanity were to start again from scratch, it would probably not think of drinking the milk of another animal. Because no other living creature on earth does that voluntarily.

If you do it anyway, you might as well drink the milk of other animals. At least it shouldn't disgust you. This was demonstrated by the London agency Don't Panic in a street experiment commissioned by the animal welfare organization Peta. As always with such advertising pranks, the question arises as to whether the people shown are real and, if so, why they are making their faces available for a revealing advertising campaign. But the people shown look quite real - or are at least good actors for a change. (hae)
