Public service: SRG presents a set of arguments
With the publication "For All", SRG sets out its position with regard to the upcoming political discussion on public service.

It sees the 40-page document as a contribution to the discussion. In a media world that is drifting apart, SRG as a public, independent media house is a hub that is politically and economically independent, it says.
SRG is the only major media company in Switzerland that does not concentrate solely on economically strong regions such as Zurich or Geneva. In this way, it is setting a counter-trend to media concentration, which is particularly noticeable in the print sector. Increased cooperation between private and public media brings advantages to both sides, the SRG continues. Digital technologies require high investments. With cooperation, the infrastructure costs of all partners can be reduced.
In addition, advertising can be marketed more efficiently if several media houses work together, since many advertisers target their audiences cross-medially. SRG is currently holding numerous talks and negotiations with associations and individual media houses. The first steps have already been taken. Individual private media companies wanted to strengthen their own position by raising the hurdles for public providers. But the winners would not be the private media houses in Switzerland, but primarily the large foreign private broadcasters and the international media groups such as Facebook or Google, the SRG warns.
