Weltwoche must publish verdict in Elmer case

The judgment of the District Court of Zurich in the case of Rudolf Elmer against Weltwoche is partially final. Weltwoche must therefore publish the final judgment in the next print edition and on its website.

According to the ruling, which is available to the SDA news agency, Weltwoche has ten working days from the date on which the ruling becomes legally binding to publish a text in the print edition with the headline "Verdict publication in favor of Rudolf Matthias Elmer". The judgment has been partially legally binding since September 15. The same text specified by the court must also be published on the website of the weekly magazine for 30 days.

The ruling also stipulates, among other things, how large the title and font size of the text must be and where it is to be published online. The text to be published states that the court assessed, among other things, statements made by the author Alex Baur, according to which Elmer had harassed former colleagues and superiors for years with anonymous death threats and insults and was a thief and blackmailer. For the court, these statements constitute an "unlawful violation of the plaintiff's personality".

In May, the Zurich District Court ruled that Weltwoche had violated the personal rights of whistleblower Rudolf Elmer in two articles. The first article from 2011 was entitled "A bad whistleblower", the second from 2012 "Honorable traitors". (SDA)
