Xing buys Eqipia

Xing acquires Zurich-based Buddybroker and its product Eqipia with immediate effect. Eqipia is an automated employee recommendation program. The purchase price amounts to CHF 3.2 million.

In addition, an earn-out payment of up to 4.8 million francs may come into play if operational targets are met, according to a statement. Buddybroker has seven employees, all of whom will remain with the company. The two founders, 30-year-old Flurin Müller and 39-year-old Patrick Mollet, will remain on board and drive the further development of the product. Companies such as Migros, Swisscom, SBB, Zühlke, BKW (Bernische Kraftwerke) and EMC are already using Eqipia successfully today.

Employee recommendations are on the rise in human resources. In the USA, for example, around 40 percent of all new hires are already based on recommendations from the company's own employees. In the D-A-CH region, too, employee recommendations are already the most effective recruitment channel. Most companies rely on self-developed bonus models to use recommendations from their own employees to fill vacancies. However, these are manual processes that are extremely inefficient and time-consuming for both the employee and the HR department.

With the "Eqipia Recommendation Manager", this complex process is digitalized and thus automated. Because the employees' network is transparent via their Xing profile, suitable colleagues are identified by means of a matching algorithm. They are approached automatically via the tool and therefore with significantly reduced effort for the HR department. The employee receives all the important information about the vacancy and can then conveniently bring it to the attention of his or her contacts. HR departments receive transparent reporting on the success of this recruitment channel. In addition, they also have the option here of offering a bonus in the event that a contact is successfully referred.

Xing CEO Thomas Vollmoeller in a statement: "An automated solution for employee referrals is the supreme discipline of recruiting. The advantage for companies: They get more qualified candidates at significantly lower costs - and in a much shorter time than by conventional means. The company's own employees act as ambassadors for their own company, and the approach to candidates is personal, reliable and highly relevant. That's why the rate of actual hires from recommended candidates is also particularly high."

The two founders Flurin Müller and Patrick Mollet are looking forward to the integration: "Together with Xing, we can implement our product vision even faster and achieve even better results for our customers. Xing's established distribution network also allows us to offer Eqipia throughout the D-A-CH region in one fell swoop."
