Exxtra: Small contribution, big impact

Swiss Mountain Aid is funded exclusively by donations. Thirty-four volunteer experts ensure that these donations are put to good use. Exxtra’s fundraising campaign illustrates exactly how the donations are used, highlighting three completed projects.

Thanks to a new cheese dairy, Hervé Darbellay can continue to produce fine alpine cheese with an AOC label on the "Alpage du Coeur" at the foot of the Great Saint Bernard in Valais. Since there is a small solar system on the Gre Alp in Obersaxen in the canton of Graubünden, Mirja Kauer and Lorenz Casanova no longer have to cook in the evenings by headlamp. And thanks to a simple new home with an attached bright, airy barn, the farm of the Tomamichel family of mountain farmers from Bosco Gurin is ready for the next generation. As different as the projects supported are, they all have one thing in common: Thanks to the support of the donors, the future of the committed people in the mountains is secured.
