SRG Ombudsman Criticizes "Rundschau

SRG Ombudsman Achille Casanova has strongly criticized a «Rundschau» segment. He said the reporting on the topic of speeding drivers was «inadequate and one-sided.».

The audience had not been informed factually in the May 6 report and had not been able to form its own opinion. The statement in the introduction, according to which the decrease in road traffic victims was due to the prevention campaigns and the Via sicura package of measures, was judged by the ombudsman to be "daring". Other factors, which were also mentioned by the federal government, were not mentioned at all.

Influenced by interviewing

Casanova also has negative words for Sandro Brotz's moderation style: although the studio guest, Ticino National Councilor Fabio Regazzi (CVP), was able to present his arguments, the audience was influenced overall by the way the interview was conducted. The ombudsman thus proved two viewers right on Tuesday, who had complained about the broadcast. They had criticized that only the positive sides of Via Sicura were mentioned in the broadcast. In addition, elementary facts had been missing, such as the legal uncertainty. (SDA)
