Last but not least: The intimate relationship between fruit and humans
Finally, a movie shows how commercials are really made. You'll have to decide for yourself whether this is still satire. Great!
According to ZDF, Matthias Thönnissen’s mockumentary «Twinfruit – The Can Must Become Human» takes «a satirically revealing look behind the scenes of advertising and portrays an industry whose main business is to dazzle and seduce.» A «mockumentary» is a fictional documentary, a parody of the genre. As an outsider with some familiarity with the subject matter, one can’t help but suspect that the line between satire and reality is sometimes more blurred than one might like. The bottom line, however, is that the film is quite simply a 70-minute, bitterly scathing—and extremely funny—side swipe at an industry that tends to take itself a bit too seriously. The film presents, in a documentary style, the story of a campaign for a can of fruit—from conception to TV broadcast. «The goal of the communication campaign is to place the intimate relationship between fruit and people in a lively context, positioning canned fruit as a problem-solving companion in everyday life,» according to the briefing. The result is «the biggest campaign in the canned food sector that Germany has ever seen.».

If you can find the time, you should. Because the movie is simply fantastic. It can be found in the ZDF Media Library to be watched over the next three months (unfortunately, we just missed the two TV airings). Here's the trailer. (hae)
