Salt considers exit from cinema sponsorship

The telecommunications company Salt will offer only five products in the future and may discontinue its sponsorship of outdoor movie theaters. Salt is, however, considering expanding its branch network.

"We are considering opening more stores," says Salt CEO Johan Andsjö in an interview with the Sunday newspaper. In the future, stores will become more attractive than other channels such as online stores because they will not only sell phones, but also become service centers. "The more important communication becomes and the more saturated the market is, the closer the relationship between customers and stores will become," Andsjö says. On the other hand, the telecom company will reduce its range of products and services. Salt will now offer only five products, according to Andsjö. "And we are reducing prices sharply". For certain offers, Salt will be up to 45 percent cheaper than the competition.

Changes in advertising presence

There are also to be changes in the company's advertising presence. In the future, marketing should promote products more directly and not just strengthen the brand, says Andsjö. For this reason, the company is currently clarifying whether the open-air cinema Salt Cinema still fits into this concept. Salt is the name giver and sponsor of the open-air cinemas in Basel, Bern, Geneva and Zurich. Telecom company Salt was renamed from Orange to Salt at the end of April after French investor Xavier Niel took over Orange Switzerland in February. (SDA)
