Suissphone wants to respect star rating
Suissephone Communications intends to respect the asterisk notation in the phone book going forward and clearly indicate the identity in its phone contacts. This is the result of a court-mediated settlement, as the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) announced on Monday.
Seco had received a large number of complaints from consumers about Suissephone (Werbewoche.ch reported). The complaint was that customers had received unsolicited advertising calls from the company despite a star entry in the telephone directory. Many of those called also claimed that Suissephone created a risk of confusion with Swisscom's services. After a warning failed to have any effect, Seco filed a civil suit against Suissephone before the Commercial Court of the Canton of Zurich. With the involvement of the commercial court, a settlement was finally reached in which Suissephone agreed to various obligations. (SDA)
