Edelweiss merges with Bolero
Edelweiss, the monthly title in French-speaking Switzerland, is falling victim to the reorganization of Ringier's women's magazines. The last issue of Edelweiss will appear in the summer, after which it will be merged with its German-speaking Swiss counterpart Bolero.
In French-speaking Switzerland, the new magazine will be called "Bolero-Edelweiss". In German-speaking Switzerland, Bolero will be retained. The director of Ringier Romandie, Daniel Pillard, confirmed to the SDA news agency on Monday a report to this effect from Radio and Television Suisse Romandie (RTS).
At the end of February, Ringier had announced closer cooperation between the women's magazines (Werbewoche.ch reported). The titles SI Style, Bolero, Bolero Men and Edelweiss will in future be headed by SI Style Editor-in-Chief Sabina Hanselmann-Diethelm. The reorganization is intended to make the titles more attractive to advertisers and to exploit editorial synergies. It is not yet clear whether there will be any job cuts. The merger will affect both editorial teams in Zurich and Lausanne, Pillard said. Bolero-Edelweiss will consist mainly of articles from Zurich, which will be translated into French by the Lausanne editorial team.
At Ringier Romandie, there will be further adjustments following the complete takeover of the newspaper Le Temps. Le Temps will be merged with the weekly L'Hebdo and the Edelweiss editorial team into a joint newsroom in Lausanne. The editorial team of the women's magazine will also produce the lifestyle pages of Le Temps and L'Hebdo in the future. (SDA)
