Mörgeli denounces "Rundschau" producers

Next round in the "Rundschau" dispute: According to Sonntagsblick, Christoph Mörgeli has denounced editorial director Mario Poletti, presenter Sandro Brotz and editor Marc Meschenmoser.

Sonntagsblick has received the letter that Mörgeli is sending to the chief public prosecutor's office of the canton of Zurich. The National Councilor is suing for defamation, slander and libel. The three TV journalists had "seriously injured" Mörgeli's honor and reputation with "their misrepresentations and manipulative use of sources," according to the indictment. Mörgeli accuses the "Rundschau" specifically that two of the witnesses quoted in the article did not even hold doctorates from him. In addition, one of his statements was abbreviated in such a way that it was twisted into the opposite. SRF is not yet aware of the criminal charges and therefore cannot comment on the latest events. However, spokesman Stefan Wyss reminds the Sonntagsblick once again of the decision of the Independent Appeals Authority (UBI), which rejected Mörgeli's complaint by eight votes to zero. In addition, a committee of experts from the University of Zurich supported the "Rundschau" reporting. (hae)
