Unique breaks new ground

On the Öpfelchüchliweg, Unikat—in collaboration with the Swiss Fruit Association and the Grindelwald Männlichenbahnen—has created an adventure trail designed to inspire lasting enthusiasm, especially among families with children.

Grindelwald not only offers a spectacular mountain panorama with views of the world-famous north face of the Eiger, the popular vacation resort in the Jungfrau region also has a large network of hiking trails. One of these hiking trails, which has over 10,000 ascents per season, is the "Öpfelchüechliweg", which connects the middle station of the Männlichen cable car with the intermediate station Brandegg of the Jungfrau Railway. This trail, which is aimed at families, was reopened last week and has two prominent companions: Barry, the Bernese mountain dog, and Hans, the cheeky goose, accompany the hiking family over five stations from Holenstein to Brandegg.

A funny radio play, which was specially designed for this adventure trail, tells you a lot about the significance of the apple and the surrounding area. The short stories can be listened to at the individual stations using a cell phone. These stations also offer lots of interesting facts about the apple, which can be learned through play. Together with the Erlebnisplan agency, five informative boards have been created, which provide amazing facts about apples and invite you to play, until you can enjoy delicious Öpfelchüechli (the trail's namesake) in the Brandegg restaurant at the end of the entertaining journey. The Swiss Fruit Association, together with Unikat, Erlebnisplan and Männlichenbahnen, is thus continuing to break new ground outside of traditional advertising and in this way is creating a completely different kind of contact with Mr. and Mrs. Swiss's favourite fruit: the apple.
