Before the summer break, a brief incomplete review of the past first half of the year. January: Off. Axel Springer Schweiz discontinues the print edition of the investor magazine Stocks. February: In. Andrea Bleicher becomes ad interim editor-in-chief of Blick. In. Florian Fels becomes CEO Publishing Ringier.

March: New. Ostschweiz am Sonntag is launched. New. Der Sonntag and Die Südostschweiz am Sonntag appeared for the first time as Schweiz am Sonntag. Off. The Basler-Zeitung-Medien Group closes its printing plant at the end of March. Flop. Total operating revenues of the NZZ Media Group declined by 8.3 million Swiss francs year-on-year to 519.0 million Swiss francs due to the sharp drop in print advertising. The corporate result was 30.9 million Swiss francs.

April: In. Etienne Jornod is the new Chairman of the Board of the NZZ Media Group. In. The Board of Directors of AZ Medien appointed Axel Wüstmann as its new CEO. Top. Ringier increased EBITA by 55.2 percent to 99.5 million Swiss francs in 2012. Profit was 32.3 million Swiss francs, and sales at Group level were 1087.6 million Swiss francs.

May: Plan. Hansi Voigt wants to launch news portal before the end of 2013. Peter Wanner is the main investor so far. In. Stefan Barmettler, becomes new editor-in-chief of Handelszeitung on August 1, 2013. In. Christoph Bauer, former CEO of AZ Medien moves to the Cologne-based media group M. DuMont Schauberg. He will take up the post of Chairman of the Executive Board there on January 1, 2014.

June: In. Martin Kall, a longtime Tamedia executive, joins the supervisory board of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ). In. The Board of Directors of the NZZ Media Group appointed Veit Dengler as its new CEO. He succeeds Albert P. Stäheli, who will remain with the company in an advisory capacity until the end of 2014. July: In. TV journalist Christine Maier takes over as Editor-in-Chief of SonntagsBlick as of November 1, 2013. In. Christoph Blocher joins BaZ-Holding. He takes over 20 percent of the share capital with his financing company Robinvest for 306,000 francs. And he is to become a member of the Board of Directors of BaZ-Holding. Out. Martin Spieler leaves SonntagsZeitung. Even though I'm itching to - I'm not writing anything about the TV ratings whorehouse today. There will be plenty to talk about in the fall.
