Cannes Lions: New judging system, new deadline

This year, the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity is introducing a two-stage judging system in the «Media Lions» category. In addition, the deadline for submitting entries in all categories has been moved from March 28, 2013, to April 12, 2013.

In the new, two-tier evaluation system in the "Media Lions" category, outstanding achievements in tactical media planning and placement are honored. The new judging system works as follows: In a first step, the Preliminary Jury, consisting of 40 media experts from around the world, judges the shortlist. In a second step, the Awarding Jury, consisting of eight leading media experts and the Jury President, awards the Grand Prix, Gold Lion, Silver Lion and Bronze Lion from the shortlist selected. The jury's decision to award the Media Lion is based on the criteria of understanding, strategy and idea (35 percent), media execution (30 percent), results and effectiveness (35 percent).

"Media Lions" is one of the 16 award categories at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, which runs from June 16-22, 2013.

New "Young Media" Academy

The organizers of the Cannes Lions Festival are launching the "Young Media" Academy as part of its 60th anniversary, which is aimed at young media professionals up to the age of 28. The academy will take place during the festival and will focus on the creative use and implementation of creative ideas of media channels as well as on providing an understanding of the global media and advertising industry.

The deadline for entries in all categories has been postponed from March 28, 2013 to April 12, 2013.
