Previon: Workflow solution for hyperlocal journalism

With the Previon Story Sender app, reports and interviews can be recorded in text, images, audio and video and sent directly to the editorial team or their editorial system.

The Story Sender user interface can be designed and personalized in the look of the respective title, according to a press release. Previon will be showcasing the system at Media Expo 2013, which takes place on April 15 and 16 in Mainz. The app is initially available for iPhone and iPad.

Story Sender solves logistical requirements of the hyperlocal approach

Hyperlocal journalism is fast and small-scale - the logistical requirements are correspondingly high. With Story Sender, journalists and authorized reader reporters can create texts as well as image, video and audio content directly or upload it from the local database. The finished article, including metadata such as category, title and body text, is then sent to the editorial team. The transfer of geo-information is planned for a future version.

Transfer directly to the editorial system possible

Story Sender can be integrated with various content management and editorial systems via programming interfaces (APIs) - the data is then transferred directly from Story Sender to the respective system. If Story Sender is used in conjunction with Macentur from Previon, a wide range of additional content management options are available. Macentur, which is already established at over 50 newspapers in Switzerland alone, allows CvDs, department heads and editors-in-chief to distribute incoming reports from various sources to several output channels. Story Sender can also cooperate with digital asset management solutions.
