Last but not least: Titanic and the Fanta Pope

The satirical magazine *Titanic* is fighting back against the ban on the controversial Pope cover of its July issue. It’s all supposedly just one big yellow misunderstanding.

The German satirical magazine does not want to accept the injunction obtained by Pope Benedict XVI and has lodged an appeal with the Hamburg Regional Court. The German Press Council has so far received over 160 complaints against the provocative cover picture of the Pope in the July issue. Most of them were from angry private individuals, but also from Catholic organizations. Under threat of a fine of up to 250,000 euros, Titanic is no longer allowed to distribute the cover picture or show it on the Internet. However, magazines that have already been delivered to retailers do not have to be recalled.

Under the title "Hallelujah in the Vatican - The leak has been found!", Titanic showed the Pope alluding to the Vatileaks scandal with a yellow stain on the cassock. On the back of the booklet, the Pope with a brown stain - "Another leak found!"

Editor-in-chief Fischer explained in the meantime on Titanic-magazine.comThe whole thing must be a misunderstanding. The cover picture shows the celebrating Pope pouring a glass of lemonade over his robe after the Vatileaks affair was cleared up. "It is common knowledge that the Pope is a great fan of the soft drink Fanta," said Fischer in a statement. The picture published on the magazine's website backed up this theory:
