SRG staff demands fair Gav

From April 25 to 27, the fourth and final round of negotiations on the SRG collective bargaining agreement will take place in Biel. To kick off the negotiations, the Swiss Union of Media Workers (SSM) will present the SRG delegation with the petition «Stop the Cuts to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.».

Around 2300 signatures have been collected for the petition in the studios since the beginning of April. The broad support shows that employees are not prepared to accept the cuts demanded by SRG, the SSM said in a statement. SRG wants to decide after the 4th round of negotiations whether there will continue to be a CLA in 2013 or whether there will be a contractless state. The latter would mean that the SRG management would break with the practice of social partnership, which has proven itself over decades, the SSM statement continues.

The petition underlines that SRG is not a company that operates according to the usual market laws, but a "public service". SRG is financed by fees and fulfills an important role for information and opinion formation in Switzerland. This mandate obligates it, not least with regard to its staff.
