2nd Valais Media Prize awarded
The winners of the 2nd Valais Media Prize have been announced: Bernadette Conrad (for an article in *Die Zeit*), Dominique Le Glou (France 2), Fabio Bottonelli (Bell’Europa), and Iain MacMillan (Ski Canada Magazine). In March, the journalists will each receive the first prize—worth 5,000 Swiss francs—for articles and reports written in German, French, Italian, and English.

German-language works: Bernadette Conrad for "Where is the glacier flea?" in Die Zeit from August 6, 2009.
French-language works: Dominique Le Glou for "Carnet de route" on France 2 from July 19, 2009.
Italian-language works: Fabio Bottonelli for "La Piramide delle Alpi", July issue of Bell'Europa.
English-language works: Iain MacMillan for "High on Zermatt", fall issue of Ski Canada Magazine.

Around 80 articles, TV and radio reports published between March 1 and October 31, 2009 were submitted for the media prize. With the 2nd Valais Media Prize, the Valais Information Office honors journalists for articles and reports about Valais. The aim is to raise public awareness of tourism, the economy and nature in the Alpine canton. The jury, chaired by Urs Zenhäusern, President of the Valais Information Office, was composed as follows: State Councillor Jean-Michel Cina, State Councillor Jacques Melly, Thomas Rieder (Editor-in-Chief of the Walliser Bote) and Jean-François Fournier (Editor-in-Chief of Le Nouvelliste).
