New DDPS Head of Communications: Peter Minder
Television journalist Peter Minder will become the new head of communications for the Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection, and Sports (VBS). Minder succeeds Jean-Blaise Defago.
He has been a personal assistant to department head Ueli Maurer for over a year and has only managed communications on an interim basis since then. Minder will take up the post on February 1, 2012. This was announced by the DDPS on Thursday, according to SDA.
Peter Minder can look back on a 26-year career as a sports journalist at Schweizer Fernsehen SF. He is currently production manager and live commentator for athletics, cross-country skiing and tennis. As a professional athlete, Minder took part in four world championships and the 1984 Olympic Games in the sport of modern pentathlon. He became Swiss champion in 1983. Minder is a colonel in the infantry and is assigned to the communications section of the army staff.
