Bakom: Nancy Wayland Bigler appointed new head of the Radio and Television Division

Nancy Wayland Bigler has been appointed by Federal Councilor Doris Leuthard as Deputy Director and the new head of the Radio and Television Division at the Federal Office of Communications. She will assume her position on October 1, 2011. The 44-year-old lawyer has previously worked in the field of social security.

Following training and further education in the social insurance sector and a part-time law degree at the University of Lucerne, Nancy Wayland Bigler was Head of Development in the Invalidity Insurance division at the Federal Social Insurance Office from 2006 to 2010, writes Bakom. Since last year, she has been in charge of strategy projects for the 6th IV revision at the Zurich Social Insurance Institution.

Nancy Wayland Bigler and the Radio and Television Division will be the Confederation's first point of contact for legal, financial and frequency-related questions in the field of electronic media. The division prepares the political decision-making process in this rapidly changing area, examines license applications and ensures that the legal provisions are complied with.
