Swiss media in possession of all Wikileaks documents on Switzerland

The French-speaking Swiss daily newspaper Le Temps and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung NZZ are apparently in possession of all Wikileaks documents relating to Switzerland. According to their own information, they have received a total of 5,814 US documents from Julian Assange's revelation portal.

The documents shed light on Switzerland's relations with the USA and contained assessments of Swiss policy by American diplomats. This was reported by the two newspapers on Saturday. Most of the documents were sent out in the last ten years, writes the NZZ. According to Le Temps, the data set includes all dispatches sent to Washington by the US embassies in Bern and Geneva. It also includes all documents bearing the name Swiss or Switzerland.

In the next few days, the editorial teams of the two newspapers plan to analyze the data collection and publish the key statements. Links brought to light by Wikikleaks, such as those between the UBS agreement with the USA and the admission of Uyghurs from the US torture camp in Guantánamo, Cuba, have already caused a stir in the Federal Council. Revelations about the isolation of Swiss diplomats in Tripoli during the crisis between Switzerland and Libya over a Gaddafi son and the abducted businessmen Göldi and Hamdani also cast a bad light on the Foreign Ministry in Bern.
