Telecommunications Commission does not want radio and TV fees for small businesses
In the future, even those who do not own a radio or television set will be required to pay radio and television license fees. However, if the relevant Council of States committee has its way, small businesses will be exempt from the fee requirement.
The Telecommunications Committee of the Council of States (KVF) shares the view of the Federal Council and the National Council that the current fee system is no longer fit for purpose. It unanimously requested the Council of States to instruct the Federal Council to draw up a device-independent fee system. However, the committee is in favor of exceptions: It would like to exempt small businesses, manufacturing, service and agricultural companies from the obligation to pay fees. In this way, "unfair double charges" could be avoided, writes the Commission in its communication on Tuesday. The KVF amended the text of a motion from the National Council accordingly.
