Fair weather conditions for ASW
What economic factors will have a decisive impact on the Swiss advertising industry in the coming year?
Which climatic influences will have a decisive impact on the Swiss advertising industry in the coming year?By Andreas Panzeri Will the good weather continue? The Alliance of Swiss Advertising Agencies (ASW) wanted to know exactly and had three original Muotatal weathermen brought in by tractor to their year-end dinner in Schwyz.
Mountain farmer Kari and his colleagues, however, did not want to venture out onto the branches. Admittedly, they showed a lot of natural talent when it came to advertising during the interview with ASW President Stefan Hofmann. "As Muotatal weathermen with 600 club members and 10 francs annual dues, we have no money at all for self-promotion. Nevertheless, we have been known throughout the country for 250 years," said the Thomas Bucheli competitors. That's what you call successful brand management.
Instead of making economic forecasts, the mountain people preferred to promise the gullible advertisers "snow from Christmas to New Year - and thus the best weather for skiing vacations". How far the secret tip of the mountain frogs - "For short-term forecasts, we look to the womenfolk and their whims" - could also be valid for the advertising scene, shall not be discussed further. Although the men from the Muotataler Ländlerchörli immediately guessed "a lot of snow this winter" after the singers dressed in traditional costumes had also let the techno yodeler Christine Lauterburg get the better of them in Schwyz's town hall.
Unconventional and earthy presented the show block at this annualhöck of the owner-managed agencies. "We call ourselves the Alliance of Swiss Agencies, so it's about time we finally had our party right in the heart of this Switzerland," explained ASW Managing Director Karl Heinrich von Grote.
As one of the most important agenda items of the meeting in the Schwyz town hall, which was built in 1593, no less than five new ASW agencies were allowed to receive their membership certificates this year.
Katia Bonadei and Michel Bootz from Bootzgrolimundbootzbonadei AG in Zurich were not present at the award ceremony. Oliver Fiechter and Uccico C. Demirci from Fiechter Demirci Werbung + Public Relations AG, Widnau, also had their certificates sent on. Sabine and Mark Schönholzer from Factum AG für Marketing, Zurich, were proud of the diploma, which was enclosed in Plexiglas.
"Through a steel storm of exam questions" they were chased by Stefan Hofmann, the president of the admission committee, said the DM specialists. Also new to the association is Peer Messerli of Messerli Werben in Ottenbach. Messerli was introduced as a "philosopher among advertisers".
The fifth certificate went to the agency with the nature-strong name Blitz & Donner of Stefan and Annette Michel Gilgen. The AV specialist Annette returns with this new foundation after a short departure "to the great joy of all" back to the ASW and has immediately signed up again for a job on the board.
After the official part in the town hall, the meeting found its culinary conclusion in the neighboring "Wyssen Rössli". This part of the evening was deliberately designed without any further music, because the meanwhile 92 active members of the Alllianz were to develop their relationships even more into a functioning network here, above all in continuing discussions.
Andreas Panzeriflitzed across the highway to Schwyz and met a rustic advertising party in the heart of Switzerland. At the annual dinner of the ASW agencies, there was not only down-to-earth yodeling, but also well-founded talk in the nicest tones of a good coming year for the alliance of owner-managed agencies in Switzerland.
Whoever else has something to yodel, sing loudly, falsely or bel canto-wise, will be located at the most diverse events of the scene. Do you already have something to report?
