Head of the week: "We have ambitions to export our model abroad as well".
Hans Ueli Keller is Goldbach Media's board delegate for integrated cross-media strategies
Hans Ueli Keller is Goldbach Media's board delegate for integrated cross-media strategies / After more than twenty years, something had to be done: "Since I started working as a part-time trainee at the former SKA in 1978, I've kept a short beard. Now it's gone," says Hans Ueli Keller, stroking his freshly shaved chin. His job is also fresh. Since May 10, Hans Ueli Keller has been a delegate of the Board of Directors of Goldbach Media, the newly founded service center for electronic media in Küsnacht, Zurich.
After completing his education at the University of St. Gallen and two years of research at the university's own Institute for Banking, Keller moved to SKA full-time in 1981, where
he worked in marketing and project management. As Head of Marketing, Advertising and Sponsorship, he developed the Tour de Suisse into a textbook example of sports sponsorship, until the Tour's image no longer suited the newly formed Credit Suisse. Keller, a classical flugelhorn player and jazz trumpeter, later introduced cultural sponsorship to the bank alongside golf sponsorship.
In 1993, he moved within CS to the Retail Banking department. There he built up the CS Firstphone telephone bank and later introduced the bank's first Internet platform.
As a member of the Executive Board from 1997 to 2000 and now Head of Communications, Keller played a key role in shaping Credit Suisse's fresh image and the rebranding of the CS Group.
The bearded man could have stayed on the bench for the rest of his life. "But I didn't want just one employer in my professional life," he says, delighted with the new prospects - and not just of Lake Zurich, which glistens directly in front of his office in Goldbach. "We have every opportunity to develop a good position, and not just in Switzerland." The Delegate of the Board of Directors of the 220-strong media company has ambitions to "grow Goldbach Media in Europe too".
Keller has also gained experience abroad through his work as a part-time lecturer at the International Banking School in New York. Last fall, he himself attended a two-month course at Harvard Business School in Boston. "He still feels closely connected" to the University of St.Gallen. Keller was a lecturer in Business Administration there.
His commitment as financial director of the Sonnenberg School for the Blind in Baar is important to him. Keller took over this job from his father. He enjoys his own role as the father of two "boys" aged 16 and 19, for example when he can take his sons to a joint concert by funk trumpeter Maceo Parker. Andreas Panzeri
