Performance at the limit
Pro Infirmis continues to fight prejudice with its new poster campaign
Pro Infirmis continues to fight prejudice with new poster campaignSwiss theater director Stefan Bachmann caused a scandal in Denmark. His production of "Hamlet" fell through because several actors objected to Bachmann's theatrical borderline performance, in which Christina, a 35-year-old woman suffering from Down syndrome, was supposed to play Ophelia. Various actors feared that Christina would be put on display and would not be able to protect her integrity. Both her parents and the association for the disabled supported the experiment.Looking at the new image campaign of Pro Infirmis, one imagines oneself in a more progressive country. Here, seven mothers and fathers with their disabled babies and toddlers take a stand against discrimination in everyday life. Much more than in the previous campaign, those responsible faced up to possible ethical concerns. page 6
