What's next for "What's up"?

The commuter newspaper *20 Minuten* needs to find a new title for its lifestyle magazine.

Commuter newspapers 20 Minuten has to look for a new title for its nightlife magazine. 20 Minuten's announced lifestyle and nightlife magazine will definitely be published in the first half of 2003. 20 Minuten managing director Rolf Bollmann could not or did not want to give a more precise launch date. He also did not want to announce the title of the 40-page independent magazine. What is certain is that the names "What's up" and "What's on" are only suitable as working titles. Internet addresses with these names were reserved by third parties more quickly than by 20 Minuten.
Bollmann said that the magazine will be distributed by colporteurs in Zurich, Berne, Basel and Winterthur at 4 p.m., and will later also be available in the boxes. It will also be available in bars, clubs, trendy restaurants, McDonald's branches, Kitag cinemas and ExLibris and CityDisc stores. Nevertheless, the circulation will be less than half that of a daily edition (currently 320000 copies).
The concept envisages an identical magazine for the entire "Golden Triangle". The content includes the cinema programs of the three agglomerations, shopping tips, events, concerts, parties, trends in home electronics (DVD, video, games, CD), the TV program for a week and 20-minute cooking recipes.
The advertising rates have not yet been finalized. However, it is clear that the magazine can be combined: On the one hand with the daily edition and on the other hand with the youth pool marketed by the Mediabox agency, which consists of the monthly titles Forecast, Kult and Seventh Sky. The combined discounts are still being negotiated.
