Money for anger

Free Newspaper: The Express is cashing in on staff departures.

Publisher Hans-Heinrich Coninx and CEO Martin Kall have promised the Express crew new jobs at Tamedia. Now, however, "generous severance payments" were offered at Monday's staff meeting. Will there be redundancies after all? "No, we won't be laying anyone off," says former Express publishing director Marius Hagger. Severance pay has only been offered in the event that no equivalent position can be found for individual employees. Or if someone gets fed up with Tamedia. "But we hope that this will not be everyone," he added. (mk)
