Commuter newspapers Hardly any hope of Tamedia jobs for Express employees.
After the Tamedia management promised the employees of the unlaunched Express a secure future within the Group, everything now looks different. According to unconfirmed information, a majority of the contracts offered to Express employees at other Tamedia titles are "full of catches". Catch 1: Almost all contracts are said to be limited to one year. Catch 2: The Express employees remain Express employees, whose wages, according to reliable sources, are clearly below those of their Tagi, Sonntagszeitung and Facts colleagues. Catch 3: Their new jobs are not even listed in their new employers' budgets. Tamedia spokeswoman Franziska Hügli was tight-lipped: "These allegations are not correct. Before the Competition Commission has decided on the purchase of 20 Minuten, it is too early to make any statements about the Express editorial team." (sm)
