VSP vigorously against RSR
Radio Westschweizer Radio-Infokanal meets with resistance.
Radio Suisse Romande (RSR) has submitted a license application to the Federal Office of Communications for an additional radio information channel on FM and DAB. The channel will broadcast 24-hour news and information from RSR and private radio stations in French-speaking Switzerland. The French-speaking Swiss private radio association RRR can imagine participating, but not unconditionally, explained its president Pierre Steulet. The question remains open as to whether RSR wants to be the sole licensee and operator or whether a broader sponsorship is possible, while the Association of Swiss Private Radio Stations (VSP) has announced its opposition to the project. According to VSP President Günter Heuberger, it is unacceptable for SRG to continue its expansion strategy during the parliamentary debate on the new RTVA, which has only just begun.
