Optima(le) placement
The way Switzerland's second-largest newspaper has alienated its major advertising clients has gone so far as to amount to self-mutilation and self-denial.
The willingness of Switzerland's second most popular newspaper to make concessions to major advertising clients goes as far as self-mutilation and self-denial - the almost complete coverage of the Blick logo by Post-it teasers can hardly be interpreted in any other way. The client, Orange, must have rubbed its hands in glee at this most prominent of all possible placements of the reference to its Optima price plan, but the (chief) editors must have thrown up their hands when they became aware of this breach of taboo last Friday. And Werner De Schepper probably became aware of a glaring disadvantage of his new newspaper format for the first time. Because his marketing colleagues certainly argued: "Where else should we have put the sticky note on our tabloid? Perhaps over Behring's spectacle lenses?"
