Lots of festivities and spectacle
«When bodies are juggled and props become acrobatic partners, when the entire space becomes a circus set and the boundary between human and matter dissolves, ...
"When bodies are juggled and devices become acrobatic partners, when the whole room is a circus object and the boundary between man and matter dissolves, ... "When bodies are juggled and devices become acrobatic partners, when the whole room is a circus object and the boundary between man and matter dissolves, then there is only one diagnosis - anatomy anomaly." With these somewhat confusing words, the homepage of the Zürcher Theater Spektakel describes the performance of the Compagnie Anomalie, which was shown at this year's Spektakel preview of the Tages-Anzeiger. (Dis)disturbingly beautiful is what you will get to see on stage this evening, Peter Hartmeier introduced his greeting. Well, it wasn't that bad. The show was quite simply a vivid performance in which acrobatic and dance elements were presented in combination with music to match. Without any moralizing or deeper message - simply for enjoyment. Most of the guests - this year there were around 700 (!) - are always surprised, albeit with mixed feelings. A few, however, like culture fan Jost Wirz, find out about what is being shown in advance via the Internet.
Further news from the mouth of the Tagi editor-in-chief. Young people in particular (i.e. the core target group of the advertisers present) have an incredibly high affinity for culture among Tagi readers - and today they are almost obsessed with subscribing to quality titles again. So that would be really wonderful if this thesis proved to be true - otherwise one would have to assume that some statistics have been grossly misinterpreted here.
As the first official event after the summer break, the Tagi premiere is an absolute must for the industry and enjoys the same status as the Epiphany conference after Christmas. It is the perfect opportunity for the first updates and gossip exchanges. It has been reported that columnist Kurt W. Zimmermann was himself honored with the title "Idler of the Year" shortly after the publication of one of his biting columns on the subject of idleness. And the advertisers Peter Lesch and Reinhold Weber are said to have spent the whole evening throwing themselves at potential customers. It was definitely fun, the weather played along and some guests left the Landiwiese very late.
The next day, Jean Frey AG doubled down with its summer night party. The courtyard party took a huge leap forward in terms of both quality and quantity. The wonderful mix of guests was great fun. From the CEO of the global cigar manufacturer to the more mature agency owner and the 20-year-old media assistant, almost all the exponents of our industry were there.
The setting of the inner courtyard on Förrlibuckstrasse was like something out of a thousand and one nights. Bedouin tents with cushioned loungers, palm trees, typical Moroccan table chandeliers and so on. Even the invitation was stylishly presented in finely chiseled, Arabic-style lettering. And so the traditional shishas, or water pipes, were not missing. Very few people missed the opportunity to take a puff on these trendy instruments. It was a pity, therefore, that the catering was not one hundred percent consistent. The only thing that would have been appropriate here would have been a fine couscous. And we'll keep quiet about the harem. We were also lucky with the weather. Although there was a small downpour, it didn't dampen the atmosphere in the covered courtyard.
Since then, a lot has happened in Switzerland in terms of the weather. As we all know, Zurich has the "agency on the water" - in Bern there is now the agency in the water again. Encouraging greetings to Contexta in the Matte district as they sort through the soggy archive cardboard. However, we don't want to indulge in mockery and schadenfreude here, but rather make a constructive suggestion. In the spirit of intercantonal advertising solidarity, unemployed or jobless Zurich advertisers and other idlers could actually go and support the Bernese in their clean-up work. If at least one other person agrees with this idea, the shortlist author will be the first to lend a hand to the Contextans who have been battered by the floods.
