Palais Mascotte in Zurich opens under new management
On January 29, 2026, the Palais Mascotte on Zurich’s Theaterstrasse will reopen under new management. Bella is taking over the historic club and restoring its original name from 1916. With a concept that combines bar and club operations, the new operator is focusing on music, a welcoming atmosphere, and cultural diversity.

On Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Palais Mascotte on Zurich's Theaterstrasse will come back to life. Bella will take over as operator in the new year, opening a new chapter in the venue's 110-year history.
Since its foundation in 1916, the Palais Mascotte has been more than just a nightclub. It was a stage and a refuge in equal measure. A place where artists danced, dreamed, failed and blossomed. A place for eccentrics, seekers and free spirits. The reopening marks the start of a new chapter - written by a woman for the first time.
Return to the original name
As the new operator of the venue, Bella sets an initial example by giving the restaurant its original name from 1916: Palais Mascotte. With a deep cultural understanding and a clear vision, Bella takes over a place that she is not reinventing, but rethinking.
"The Palais Mascotte is one of the most traditional clubs in the city of Zurich. A place where we are now continuing what once made it so great: Freedom, creativity and closeness," says Bella. Diversity and tolerance will not only be part of the program, but a matter of course. A motivated and diverse team of exciting personalities from Zurich's nightlife scene will carry the vision of Palais Mascotte out into the world.
Music at the center
Music is at the heart of Palais Mascotte. It is the driving force that carries the space, opens it up, moves it and brings people together. In an increasingly digital, distanced world, Palais Mascotte focuses on closeness. So the evenings begin with bar service - from Wednesday to Saturday from 18:00 - at the historic window front, decelerated with a view of the city. A carefully curated music slot with exciting selectors leads into the evening and creates a seamless transition into the club, which starts at 10 pm. Bar and club are no longer separate worlds, but merge seamlessly into one another.
Music as an attitude. Quality before volume. Curation instead of chance. There are no third-party events at Palais Mascotte; instead, every evening scores with the signature of the in-house booking team. This venue is characterized by its very own sound - from Italo disco to disco funk to Chicago house. The DJ booth in the middle of the room is manned by those who shape Zurich's sound. International collaborations, for example with Toy Tonics and other international labels, bring radiance. The Palais aims to connect, bringing together international artists and local talent and creating a unique network.
Space for art
Art is also given space again at Palais Mascotte. The bar regularly hosts exhibitions, talks and openings as part of Art Wednesday. Art that you don't just look at, but experience - in the middle of the action, between conversations, music and movement.
The Palais Mascotte does not simply want to entertain. It wants to touch. It wants to facilitate encounters. It wants to be a home - for dancers, thinkers, workers, lovers, seekers. A place that is open and sophisticated - lively, warm and unagitatedly special.
