20 years of Bernetblog: From newsletter companion to a permanent fixture
The Bernetblog is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Since November 2005, Bernet Relations has been writing about all relevant aspects of communication—from the early days of podcasts to social media and artificial intelligence. An infographic illustrates the evolution of communication over the past two decades.

A dynamic addition to the classic e-mail newsletter. That was the initial idea behind the Bernetblog. Accordingly, the first article by Marcel Bernet, the founder and namesake of the agency, was simply entitled "The fast sister" in November 2005. The few lines of content laid the foundation for the blog, which has become a permanent fixture in the Swiss communications landscape.
To mark the blog's 20th anniversary, Bernet Relations selected a handful of formative articles from over 3,000 posts and placed them in the context of global communication events - clearly illustrated in an infographic. The graphic shows, for example, that podcasts - at least in PR and communications agencies - were already an issue in 2006. The emergence of social media platforms was accompanied in terms of communication, as was the development of the company's own industry event, the Social Media Summit. And the comparison with global technology developments shows: Bernet Relations was, is and will continue to be involved in the relevant topics.
Curiosity as a central motif
"The associated curiosity has always been a central motive and will remain so," says agency owner Dominik Allemann, who has been actively involved in shaping the blog since 2005. Accordingly - and unsurprisingly - artificial intelligence is currently in the spotlight. According to Oliver Lutz, Managing Director of Bernet Relations, it is precisely because content can now be generated at the touch of a button that the human aspect should take center stage on the Bernet blog: "We are convinced that human input is more important than ever right now".
And we want to continue to do so. With commentaries, checklists, guidelines and other practical tips: Not just on AI, but on all current communication topics, as has been the case for the last 20 years.
