Four Expo pavilions realized by Nüssli receive awards
At this year’s World’s Fair in Osaka, the Thurgau-based company Nüssli received international recognition: four national pavilions built by Nüssli were honored with BIE Awards. These awards are considered the most prestigious accolades for architecture, design, and content implementation at the Expo.
Under the motto "Designing Future Society for Our Lives" nations from all over the world presented their contributions to innovation, sustainability and social development. Nüssli was responsible as general or total contractor for the realization of the pavilions of Switzerland, Austria, Uzbekistan, Brazil and Kuwait.
The Gold Award in the category Thematic development was awarded to the Uzbek pavilion, designed by Atelier Brückner. The Brazilian pavilion won silver in the same category, while the Swiss pavilion was awarded bronze for its architecture and landscape design. The Austrian pavilion also received bronze for its exhibition design.
The jury, consisting of nine international experts, assessed the pavilions in several rounds on site. The result underlines the high status of Swiss engineering and temporary architecture. "Once again, we were able to show that temporary buildings have a lasting impact - technically, architecturally and emotionally," says Andy Böckli, CEO of Nüssli.
The company is already looking ahead to upcoming projects: Nüssli is making strategic preparations for the Specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade and the World Expo 2030 in Riyadh. The company is thus consolidating its position as a leading international provider in the field of temporary structures.
Nüssli worked with renowned partners - including Manuel Herz Architekten, Bellprat Partner, BMW Designers & Architects, LAVA, insglück and Atelier Brückner - to implement the award-winning projects. According to the company management, the combination of precision, creativity and interdisciplinary collaboration made a decisive contribution to the success.
