Last but not least: More good news, please!

The mass media thrive on bad news. That's how they capture readers' attention. But now, social media is giving us reason to hope again. There, users still look forward to positive news.

Articles with positive headlines are shared 30 percent more often on Facebook than the average, while negative headlines are shared ten percent less often than the average. At least that is the result of a recent analysis by a marketing company. It would probably be a little bold to conclude from this that bad news attracts less interest. However, it does seem to be the case that negative news is less likely to be shared in one's own environment. After all, nobody wants to play the sourpuss. What's more, the hunger for scandals has probably already been satisfied by the traditional media. In the private sphere, you don't have to spread bad news, but rather provide your friends with uplifting news. So, more good news, please!
