OBI launches emotional Christmas campaign: DIY connects hearts
OBI is launching its first international campaign with a heartwarming Christmas film. The commercial, which is airing simultaneously in nine countries—including Switzerland—shows how DIY projects can build not only things but also relationships.
OBI relies on strong emotions in its first international Christmas campaign. The 80-second spot tells the story of two brothers who have lost contact with each other after the death of their father. While restoring an old wooden bench together, they not only rediscover memories, but also find their way back to each other. The message: "Some things are not only built with your hands, but above all with your heart."
The film was produced by lead agency Zum goldenen Hirschen, CZAR and director Vincent René Lortie. Christian von Hegel, Head of Marketing at OBI, describes the commercial as a milestone for the brand: "We don't sell a hammer and a nail, we sell the picture on the wall. The film shows why we work in one of the most moving industries in the world: We are all about the home - the most emotional place there is for us."
In addition to Germany, the film will be broadcast simultaneously in eight other countries, underlining the international orientation of the brand. "This is also a first for OBI and shows our increasingly international mindset. Our brand and our values are the same in all countries," says von Hegel.
The campaign covers a wide range of media, including online video platforms, social media, display advertising, online audio and out-of-home. An extended version of the commercial of 2 minutes and 16 seconds can also be seen on YouTube.
Duration of the campaign: 01.12. to 28.12.2024. Countries: Germany, Italy, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary. Channels DE: TV, streaming, cinema, image brand story, landing page, social media + influencer activation. Concept and production: Zum goldenen Hirschen and CZAR
