Foundry with solar campaign for Berlin Senate Department

To make the potential of solar power systems more tangible, the agency Foundry is now launching the 360° information campaign «Solar Pays Off» in Berlin.

Around 10,900 new solar systems were installed in Berlin in 2023 alone - a record that also put the German capital in first place among all federal states in terms of newly installed photovoltaic capacity per state area. However, even more speed is needed to achieve the target it has set itself. The new "Solar pays off" campaign, which was developed in collaboration with the Berlin-based creative agency Foundry, is being launched today with this mission.

The campaign was presented at a press conference in Berlin on Monday.

Franziska Giffey explains: "There is still a lot of untapped potential on the rooftops and balconies of the capital. We are now shifting into the next gear and taking our solar campaign to where people are: In the streets, in the stations and shopping centers and, of course, on cell phone screens."

The Berlin-wide information campaign, which is aimed equally at private households and companies, explains the potential, funding opportunities and advisory services for solar expansion. The campaign aims to clear up gaps in knowledge and misinformation.

Own portal for the campaign

The campaign motifs, which were produced on Berlin rooftops together with the Berlin studio of photographer Lars Borges, can be seen in various formats in the cityscape and online. In cooperation with the BVG, two streetcars are even running through the city as the Solar Express, and the ads are also being shown on FahrgastTV. The campaign will mainly run during the summer months of May/June, with a second activation in October/November. It will run on digital channels until the end of this year.

In conjunction with the campaign, the SolarZentrum Berlin and the new portal www.solarcity.berlin offer bundled information such as a solar calculator, a list of solar providers, a solar roof exchange and an appointment tool for free advice from experts at the SolarZentrum.

A second part of the information campaign, which is also being carried out in collaboration with Foundry, focuses on the topic of recruiting skilled workers. In coordination with Berlin's guilds, the city is promoting apprenticeships in the solar industry. To this end, the campaign will go on an advertising tour through the digital world from the end of July with real trainees from Berlin's craft businesses.
