The PR Factory launches national prevention campaign against phishing & co.

Phishing, pharming, carding, or scamming—there are countless scams that fraudsters use to deceive their victims. The PR Factory has now developed a new awareness campaign for the police.

Shopping online with debit or credit cards is popular and safe. Unless you share your personal card information or confirm a fraudulent payment yourself. This is exactly what fraudsters are targeting. They rely on the gullibility and carelessness of their opera. With its latest Card Security prevention campaign, the police are raising awareness throughout Switzerland starting today for a more careful and critical approach to phishing e-mails or other fake requests for payment. The campaign was developed by The PR Factory. It is already the fourth awareness campaign within the framework of Card Security. The crimes have clearly moved online and the perpetrators are becoming increasingly sophisticated.

Read offers carefully

Often, cardholders are not even aware that they are falling into a trap. "This is exactly where the campaign comes in," explains Andrea Miolo-Eberhard, owner and managing director of The PR Factory. "It's important to read a message or offer carefully, critically, and not get distracted, even on the web."

The campaign takes up well-known and lesser-known scams and uses strong visuals to arouse curiosity about what lies behind them. Protagonists were chosen who are in the middle of life and should actually be well informed. "We want to show that anyone can fall for the scam. So it pays to be informed and know how to protect yourself," says Miolo-Eberhard. The scams are constantly changing. That's why the police have made it their mission with Card Security to provide regular information about card security and to educate people about new issues related to debit and credit card fraud.

Online and offline

The campaign will run throughout Switzerland in two waves in June and September 2023. Both waves will take place online on news platforms and social media. At the same time, the police corps in all parts of the country are also drawing attention to the campaign with street campaigns and posters. In addition, several banks are using the campaign and the striking subjects for their prevention activities.
