For poverty-stricken senior: PAM co-founder sets up crowdfunding

PAM co-founder Parvez Sheik Fareed wants to help an elderly woman living in poverty—through crowdfunding. The interim goal was reached after just one day.

On Wednesday, Parvez Sheik Fareed, co-founder of the PAM Advertising agency, posted a touching text on LinkedIn: "The SRF program "Mona mittendrin" on April 12 featured a report on Monika, a 75-year-old pensioner affected by old-age poverty. Her biggest dream: to get to know Switzerland by train - but that is not financially possible for her. So that it doesn't remain a dream, I have set up a crowdfunding to collect money for a senior GA for Monika. Anyone who would like to donate, click on the link. Thank you."

The senior citizen Monika Steiger had told Mona Vetsch that she had slipped into a spiral of debt due to the care costs of her now deceased husband. She had to live on only CHF 1,100 a month after all deductions, and sometimes felt "like a beggar." before. A vacation had already not been possible for decades. Hence also the - modest - wish for a GA, which however seemed unfulfillable.

Until the intervention of Parvez Sheik Fareed: The original goal - the amount of CHF 3,000 - was already reached on Thursday. Almost 80 donors had followed the call of the advertiser; the senior GA for pensioner Monika is thus already secure. Nevertheless, the campaign continues, because the initiator states: "If more than the required donation amount is collected, the surplus will go entirely to Monika." Who would like, can become active under this link.
