Journalist Balz Bruder unexpectedly deceased

Balz Bruder, the editor-in-chief of "Solothurner Zeitung", "Oltner Tagblatt" and "Grenchner Tagblatt", died unexpectedly this week. He was 53 years old.

Balz BruderBalz Bruder passed away unexpectedly this week. The journalist had been in charge of the editorial offices in the canton of Solothurn since fall 2018. Previously, he had worked as a page maker, author and member of the editorial management at the "Luzerner Zeitung" and its regional editions.

After several positions at the "Aargauer Zeitung", Bruder was Head of Communications at the Department of Health of the Canton of Aargau from 2009 to 2016. The detour into administration was his only engagement outside of journalism . "A profession for which he was on fire and which for him was a vocation and above all always a service to readers," as CH Media writes in a statement.

Following the departure of Balz Bruder, the editorial offices in Solothurn are being managed on an interim basis by Urs Mathys.

"Balz Bruder leaves a gap not only on the editorial board. His commitment, his knowledge and his mischievousness will be missed. Balz Bruder was a fine colleague and person. We miss him very much," says Pascal Hollenstein, Head of Journalism CH Media.
