The online network announced on Tuesday that it had begun selecting US applicants. They will be able to earn money with the help of the new "Super Follows" or "Ticketed Spaces" functions.

"Ticketed Spaces helps you create unique and exclusive audio experiences that your audience is willing to pay for," explained Ellen Havlicek and Esther Crawford from the Twitter product department. The "Super Follows" feature can create a "direct relationship with your most loyal subscribers" that can lead to monthly revenue, they added.

On "Ticketed Spaces", the selected Twitter celebrities will be able to sell virtual tickets for audio events at prices between one and 999 dollars. Super Follows" will offer exclusive content for subscriptions of three, five or ten dollars a month.

Twitter should not only be a "fun place to interact with your audience", but should become a place "where you can make money with stimulating conversations", Crawford and Havlicek went on to explain.

Twitter wants to retain three percent of revenues up to 50,000 dollars, and 20 percent commission on higher revenues. Twitter wants to create new revenue opportunities with the new offers, which will initially be tested. Up to now, the company has mainly financed itself through advertising. (SDA)
