m&k and Baudokumentation.ch win the Q-Award 2020
The jury has made its decision. Our magazine m&k – The Magazine for Marketing & Communication is the winner of the 2020 Q-Award Print from the Swiss Media Publishers Association. The 2020 Q-Award Digital goes to Baudokumentation.ch. The magazine for marketing and communication delivered the much-sought-after «wow» factor to the jury, while Docu Media Schweiz’s newly launched website impressed with its excellent user experience.

In April 2020, when the redesigned m&k landed on the desks of readers from the media and communications industry, many would not have believed their eyes, writes the Swiss Media Publishers Association in a press release. "When I saw it for the first time, I thought, that's not possible!" Urs Schneider, Chairman of the Board and founder of Mediaschneider, is quoted as saying. "I was still familiar with the old magazine, and the relaunch really was a quantum leap."
The other members of the Q-Award jury also confirm the wow effect. "The relaunch has attracted a lot of attention in the industry," explains Roland Ehrler, Managing Director of SWA. Marianne Läderach, Head of the Media Institute, was particularly impressed by "the great feel and innovative design" and René Grossenbacher, Board Delegate of Publicom, is enthusiastic about the "innovative approaches, especially with the cover image".
The magazine had been on the market for 46 years before the relaunch and had been struggling with falling advertising sales and declining reader interest, particularly in recent years. The main reasons for this were an outdated layout and too strong a focus on PR cooperations.
Baudokumentation.ch: The digital winner with a great user experience
The Q-Award Digital 2020 goes to Baudokumentation.ch. "A very nice user experience with beautiful images" or "good target group approach, lots of usefulness, lots of content" are some of the jury's comments on the website, which was completely redesigned last August.
Architects and planners have been using Swiss building documentation as a source of information since 1930. What started out as product data sheets and a manufacturer's catalog has now become a multimedia information platform with a beautiful, elegant design. According to the VSM, Baudokumentation.ch is a prime example of how complex information can be skillfully offered online and has rightly won the Online Q-Award 2020 for this.
